Parenting Expert Dr. Matt Albert. Charter Schools. Teacher.

Dr. Matt Albert is director at the Teshinsky Family Foundation, where he works on workforce development and skilled trades while focusing on challenging the established secondary and post-secondary education paradigm as the necessary model for employment. He is formerly the executive director at the Center for Reflective Communities, a non-profit organization that provides training to parents and mental health professionals aimed to enhance relationships between children and caregivers. Prior to joining CRC, Dr. Albert founded and ran New Los Angeles Charter Schools, public charter schools serving 600 students in grades K-8. He started his career as a high school teacher and administrator at a Los Angeles independent school.

Dr. Albert was part of a team of experts who developed a school leadership certificate program at UCLA Extension and teaches a course on school management and leadership in the program. He is currently a member of the board at New Los Angeles Charter Schools and the Center for Reflective Communities. He is also an advisory board member at Bonfire Digital Wellness working to support families by providing resources that help develop healthy kids in this ever-evolving digital world.

He lives in Los Angeles where he authors the Big Picture Parenting blog on Psychology Today. His two school-aged children don’t always agree that he’s such a great parenting expert. They may feel differently when they get older.
